“Rapid Cycling” looks into the instability of states and circumstances, the gestures and structures of change and permutations of idiosyncratic and communal anxiety. It takes note of shifting forms, frameworks, processes and trends in individual and collective positions. As a psychological disorder, rapid cycling is the term used for the frequent and dramatic fluctuation of moods. Dysfunctional and insecure, it is similar to the socio-political make-up of the country (ex. governmental and electoral operations.) In popular culture and capitalist consumerism, these are tentative/temporary commodities (ex. fads.) Vacillations and alterations offer significant implications on our modes of thinking, responding and producing which are dependent on material conditions such as age, gender, race, class, cumulative experience, etc. The exhibit is an inquiry on how sudden changes are encountered, negotiated and materialized.
